Channel signs deal with Service Provider to host movie trailers on its website

Miami Beach, FL (August 12, 2004) - ArcoStream, a leader in streaming, web hosting, caching, and encoding service solutions, announced today an agreement to provide on demand streaming and encoding services for the Sundance Channel in the film store section of its website. The section features the latest releases of home entertainment titles and visitors to the site can view the movie trailers in both Windows Media and QuickTime formats at http://www.sundancechannel.com/home_entertainment/.

The number of websites featuring streaming media continues to increase as the number of homes with broadband Internet access rises. Streaming on the Internet was once mainly the domain of record labels and music web sites, mostly because audio streaming required less bandwidth to the consumer. Now, with the success of DSL and cable modems in the home, cable TV and broadcast networks are using streaming to offer video highlights of their programming and for e-commerce on their websites.

"Using streaming and download media is the perfect way to increase buy rates for e-commerce," said Todd Loewenstein, CEO of ArcoStream. "Our clients have found that it's not enough to sell DVDs with just a graphic next to the title. People want to see a sample of what they are purchasing. We are glad to assist our partner the Sundance Channel in ensuring the commercial success of its products."

Some of the current and upcoming releases for purchase in Sundance's film store include "MacArthur Park", "Die Mommie Die!", and "The Heart of Me".

The Sundance Channel-ArcoStream relationship began when ArcoStream produced a live streaming event from the Abbey in West Hollywood, CA in June. "We worked with ArcoStream on a very successful live web cast from Los Angeles," said Shannon Rednour, Director of New Media/VOD for Sundance Channel. "They provided a turnkey service for us, including procurement of the satellite transponder space, encoding, and providing the live streams for the event. When we decided which provider we should work with for streaming and encoding the trailers in the film store section, the choice was easy."
